If you choose, you can keep the commandments and they will save you. If you trust in God, you too shall live. And to act faithfully is a matter of your own choice. The Lord has placed before you Fire and water. Stretch out your hand. For whichever you choose. Before each person are alive and death, good and evil. And whichever one chooses that shall be given. For great is the wisdom of the Lord. He is mighty in power and sees everything. His eyes are on those who fear him. And he knows every human action. He has not commanded anyone to be wicked, and he has not given any permission, any one permission to sin. The word of the Lord. 00:04:52,467 S3: Thanks be to God. 00:05:06,968 S5: Mindset are those who walk in the Lord, the Lord. 00:05:19,167 S5: Blessed are those whose way is blameless, 00:05:25,200 S5: who walk in the Lord, the Lord. The Lord. 00:07:19,167 S4: A reading from the first letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians. Brothers and sisters among the mature. We do speak wisdom, though it is not wisdom of this age, or of the rulers of this age who are doomed to perish. But we speak God's wisdom secret and hidden, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, They would not have crucified the Lord of glory. As it is written. What? No, I has seen. Not yea, heard, nor the human heart conceived. What God has prepared for those who love him. These things God has revealed to us through the spirit. For the spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. The word of the Lord. 00:08:37,701 S3: Thanks be to God. 00:08:50,367 S5: Hallelujah! 00:08:54,267 S5: Hallelujah. 00:08:57,267 S5: Hallelujah. 00:09:00,367 S5: Alleluia. 00:09:04,400 S5: Blessed are you, father, Lord of heaven and earth. You have revealed to little ones the mysteries of the kingdom 00:09:18,267 S5: of the. You are in lieu of. 00:09:38,567 S2: The Lord be with you. 00:09:40,000 S3: And with your spirit. 00:09:41,501 S2: A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew. 00:09:44,567 S3: Praise you Lord. 00:09:46,901 S2: Jesus said to his disciples, do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have not come to abolish, but to fulfill. For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees. You will never enter the kingdom of heaven. You have heard that it was said to those of ancient times, you shall not murder. And whoever murders shall be liable to judgment. But I say to you that the one who is angry with their brother or sister will be liable to judgment, and whoever insults their brother or sister will be liable to the council. And whoever says, you fool, will be liable to the hell of fire. So when you are offering your gift at the altar, if you remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go first. Be reconciled to your brother or sister and then come and offer your gift. You have heard that it was said, you shall not commit adultery. But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Again, you have heard that it was said to those of ancient times. You shall not swear falsely, but carry out the vows you have made to the Lord. But I say to you, do not swear at all. Let your word be. Yes. If yes or no. If no, anything more than this comes from the evil one. The gospel of the Lord. 00:11:21,901 S3: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. 00:11:30,267 S2: At over 14,000km away, the city of Perth, Australia is the farthest major city on earth from Toronto. A non-stop flight from Perth to from Toronto to Perth would take about 20 hours. If it were possible for you to drive your car in a straight line across the Pacific Ocean, it would take about a week to get to Perth with absolutely no brakes. 00:12:00,167 S2: The distance between Toronto and Perth is very great. But this morning I would like to talk to you about a distance that is even greater than that. What I'm referring to is the distance between the mind and the heart, between knowing things intellectually and actually allowing those truths to penetrate into the depths of your hearts. I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. These words from today's gospel are extremely challenging to all of us. Who among us can say that we take our faith as seriously as the scribes and Pharisees took theirs? Just consider the scribes. They dedicated their whole lives to studying, interpreting, and copying by hand the Hebrew Scriptures. An experienced scribe would have had huge swaths of Scripture memorized. How many of us can say, in all honesty, that we know the Bible as well as the scribes knew the Bible? I don't know about you, but it sounds difficult to surpass the righteousness of a scribe. Then there are the Pharisees. They have a bad reputation among us Christians, of course, because they were constantly arguing with Jesus in the Gospels. But besides their hostility to Jesus, we have to admit that there's much to be admired in the Pharisee. These were men who made it their life's mission to follow God's law down to the smallest detail. And when I say God's law, I don't just mean the Ten Commandments. No, the Pharisees took the Ten Commandments and they expanded on each one of them, creating many sub commandments. The Pharisees had a total of 613 lots to live by, and they took each and every one of them very seriously. 00:14:09,000 S2: So how can Jesus expect our righteousness to exceed that of the scribes and Pharisees? Wouldn't it be difficult enough even to match their level of righteousness, much less their passive? Well, you see, on a surface level, the scribes and Pharisees appear to be very righteous and devout. But their debates with Jesus reveal the spiritual faultline which lay just beneath the surface. Theirs was a righteousness that remained primarily on the level of intellectual assent and external acts. In other words, their righteousness hadn't spanned the vast distance between the mind and the heart. Sure, the scribes and Pharisees studied and followed God's law, but they hadn't allowed it to penetrate into the depths of their hearts. They hadn't internalized the law. 00:15:06,968 S2: For the scribes and Pharisees, it was enough that a person merely refrained from committing heinous acts like murder and adultery. For Jesus, however, merely refraining from these and other grave sins isn't sufficient evidence that a person is truly righteous. For Jesus, righteousness consists in internalizing God's law to such an extent that one doesn't even give in to those passions which lie at the root of sin passions like pride, lust, greed, and excessive anger. And so Jesus is teaching us that righteousness is more than just giving intellectual assent to doctrine. And it's more than just following moral laws. Doing these two things is enough to make us a pure righteous, but it's not enough to make us actually righteous. True righteousness comes from a personal and intimate relationship with God. 00:16:19,267 S2: Please join us now as together we pray the Apostle's Creed. I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit. Born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen. 00:17:11,868 S2: For all those in our daily TV mass prayer intentions book, we pray to the Lord. 00:17:17,467 S3: Lord, hear our prayer. 00:17:20,067 S2: As a community, we pray that all who seek meaning may place their trust in God. Just as Mary and Joseph entrusted Jesus into God's care. We pray to the Lord. 00:17:30,100 S3: Lord, hear our prayer. 00:17:45,400 S6: Lord, we offer someone gift of bread. Harvest of your ever fields. From which of us of their. 00:18:01,067 S6: Lord of Earth is a gift of one reason from the fertile soil of the world. 00:18:16,667 S6: First I. 00:18:20,501 S6: Said, are you part of. 00:18:30,667 S6: The set. Are you upset? Are you? 00:18:39,200 S6: Done. 00:18:44,601 S6: With. 00:18:52,300 S2: Your sacrifice in your sight. This to be pleasing to you, Lord God. Wash me, O Lord, from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. 00:19:09,567 S2: Pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God the Almighty. Father. 00:19:15,067 S3: May the Lord sacrifice to give praise and mercy for our good, and above all his holy church. 00:19:25,167 S2: May this oblation, oh Lord, we pray, cleanse and renew us, and may it become for those who do your will, the source of eternal reward through Christ our Lord. 00:19:35,467 S3: Amen. 00:19:40,667 S2: The Lord be with you. 00:19:42,067 S3: And with your spirit. 00:19:43,367 S2: Lift up your hearts. 00:19:45,367 S3: To the Lord. 00:19:46,267 S2: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. 00:19:48,667 S3: It is right and just. 00:19:50,667 S2: It is truly right and just our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere, to give you thanks. Lord, Holy Father, Almighty and eternal God, through Christ our Lord. For through his Paschal mystery he accomplished the marvelous deed by which he has freed us from the yoke of sin and death, summoning us to the glory of being now called a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for your own possession, to proclaim everywhere your mighty works. For you have called us out of darkness into your own wonderful light. And so with angels and archangels, with thrones and dominions, and with all the hosts and powers of heaven, we sing the hymn of your glory. As without end we acclaim. 00:20:41,100 S5: Holy, holy, holy Lord God of hosts, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. 00:20:59,167 S5: Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest! 00:21:14,767 S2: You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness, make holy. Therefore these gifts we pray by sending down your spirit upon them like the dew fall, so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion. He took bread and giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, take this, all of you, and eat of it. For this is my body which will be given up for you. 00:22:00,467 S2: In a similar way. When supper was ended, he took the chalice and once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying, take this, all of you, and drink from it. For this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me. 00:22:42,267 S2: The mystery of faith. 00:22:46,567 S5: We proclaim your death, O Lord, and profess your resurrection 00:22:55,667 S5: until you come again. 00:23:02,801 S2: Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. Humbly. We pray that partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit. Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of charity. Together with Leo our Pope and Francis our Bishop and all the clergy. Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy, welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy on us all. We pray that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with Blessed Joseph, her spouse with the blessed apostles and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages, we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through your Son Jesus Christ. 00:24:11,167 S2: Through him and with him and in him. Oh God Almighty father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours forever and ever. 00:24:27,667 S5: Amen. 00:24:40,267 S2: At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say, our father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us Lord. We pray from every evil. Graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin, and save from all distress. As we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. 00:25:24,067 S3: Our Lord and our. 00:25:29,000 S2: Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles, peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your church, and graciously grant our peace and unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign forever and ever. 00:25:43,567 S3: Amen. 00:25:44,300 S2: The peace of the Lord be with you always. Let us offer each other the sign of peace. 00:25:58,367 S5: Lamb of God, You take away the sins of the world. Have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world. Have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world. Grant us peace. 00:26:44,567 S2: Behold the Lamb of God. Behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the lamb. Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof. But only say the word, and my soul shall be healed. 00:27:01,367 S2: The body of Christ. Keep me safe for eternal life. 00:27:11,167 S2: May the blood of Christ keep me safe for eternal life. 00:27:21,567 S7: Please join me now in this act of spiritual communion. My Jesus, I believe that you are present in this holy sacrament of the altar. I love you above all things, and I passionately desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come spiritually into my soul so that I may unite myself wholly to you now and forever. Amen. 00:28:03,100 S2: Let us pray. 00:28:06,467 S2: Having fed upon these heavenly delights, we pray, O Lord, that we may always long for that food by which we truly live. Through Christ our Lord. 00:28:15,767 S3: Amen. 00:28:16,868 S2: The Lord be with you. 00:28:18,200 S3: With your spirit. 00:28:19,567 S2: May Almighty God bless you. The father and the son and the Holy Spirit. 00:28:23,968 S3: Amen. 00:28:24,567 S2: Go and announce the gospel of the Lord. 00:28:27,367 S3: Thanks be to God. 00:28:31,200 S8: Our thanks to our donors for the gift of this math. 00:28:38,267 S6: Gallery. Stay in the father's love. We gather with Jesus, his son. We gather in faith with the Spirit of God. We gather together as one. We offer our peace. We offer our love. We offer.
