00:07:06,000 OK. to. Hello, can you guys hear me? I can hear you. Yeah, I think Julia’s Mike is, is this like? No. I can hear you. I’m working. Can you guys hear me? Good evening. Hello? I like it. OK. All right. There you go. Oh, there we go. OK. Thank you for your patience. Good evening. 00:08:10,230 Um, Julia, can you hear me? Yes, I can definitely hear you. Thank you. OK then. Excellent. Um, all right, I called to order the meeting of the Hamilton Wenham Regional School Committee on Thursday, June 5th. 2025 at 7:08 p.m. 00:08:30,830 And I invite you to join us in the Pledge of Allegiance. I pledge allegiance to the United States of America. To the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible liberty, justice for all. All right, I’m pleased to say that we, uh, get to start off this evening by recognizing our student government representatives, uh, Mr. Tracy. Thank you very much. 00:09:04,030 So each year the uh class presidents of each of the four classes at the high school. Sometimes alternates, uh, come to our meetings one time a month. They rotate through, so they spend some time with their class officers, fellow class officers digging up the information that’s occurred over the last, um, 3 to 4 weeks 00:09:24,300 and compile a report and come here and deliver it to us, uh, one time a month so that the public has a good idea of what’s actually happening, um, within the schools. So it’s a, it’s a, it’s, it’s annually, we like to recognize our, um, student. 00:09:42,630 Representatives, so all the liaisons, we have 3 out of the 4 here tonight. One’s at a game, I think it’s still going, um, but I, I’ll announce them all anyway, but we’ll have them come up. We have a, uh, a peach towel, get you ready for the beach and, uh, Starbucks gift card. So I have Emmy Pitkin. Whitney Fitzgibbons. 00:10:01,630 Anderson Kraft. And then every Bernard, Evie’s out a lacrosse game. here. One’s Anderson’s. And congratulations. Thank you all very much for your time and you digging up all that information. We really appreciate it. Thank you all for all the time and effort that you put in. We are so appreciative. Thank you. 00:10:33,170 Fastest school committee meeting for them ever. Um Wonder. Um, I wanted to remind everyone that this meeting is, um, being recorded and live streamed on HWAM, um, and I also wanted to just note that for the evening, we have one, member who is participating remotely, Julia Campbell, and, 00:10:56,530 um, so we will be taking all votes by a via roll call. Um And next up, we have an opportunity for citizens’ comments, um. Mr. Tracy, just so I know, do we have anyone on Zoom who’s offering a citizen’s comment? OK um. 00:11:21,770 So, the time for a citizen’s comments is an opportunity for the citizens to an opportunity for you to be heard. It’s a time for you to speak. And for us to listen, um. 00:11:39,300 If you choose to speak, we’ll ask that you approach the podium, um, and please give us your name and make sure that you spell your last name so that we get it, um, correct for the minutes. Um, I will ask, um, Amy, if she’d be willing to time, um, for us. I ask that you keep your comments to 3 minutes, um. And we’ll let you know when you have about 30. Amy will let you know when you have about 30 seconds left. Um And I think I covered everything. 00:12:00,470 Um, if there’s anyone in the room that’d like to offer a comment, please step forward to the podium. Good evening, um, Bob Knowles. 201 Main Street and that’s K N O W L E S, um, and I am a founding member of the Hamilton Wyndham Climate action team which 2 years ago, uh, through, uh, Hamilton’s, um. 00:12:27,370 Uh, it’s Citizen vote, um, uh, approved at zero carbon by 2040, um. Mandate as well as the select board in Wenham which did it two years ago. So we’ve got a 0, we’ve all got a everyone has a zero carbon by 2040 mandate, so I’m here just quickly to say, I, um, I was at the. 00:12:54,230 Uh, transportation, uh, Competitive bid opening Tuesday. Vinny, thanks for all your work. Eric, thanks for all your work as well on that. And um uh two simple things that I wanted to say was, is, um, um. Encouraging you to. Go with the 10-year contract. 00:13:20,270 Which would convert 17 fossil school buses, uh, to electric school buses, um, that’s number 1 and number 2, I would encourage you. If it’s at all possible not to wait until June 26th to do that. And the sooner the better. 00:13:41,000 Even in the next week or two if that’s even possible, uh, because there’s an enormous amount of capital that would need to be deployed by either, either of the two companies that you select in order to begin this process to actually Purchase these buses and have them operating. Hopefully, by the time school starts, so there may be a phased-in approach to all this, which would make sense, um. So that’s it. 00:14:04,030 I really just want to encourage two things to go with that 10-year contract. Let’s keep the zero carbon by 2040 mandate going forward and have the regional school districts and all 5 schools do, do their part to make that happen, uh, for the Hamilton Environmental Impact Committee, uh, the one I’m, um, climate and sustainability committee and and my group, the Hamilton 00:14:26,470 Wyndham Climate Action team, so thanks very much, really appreciate all your work on that, um, and we did. win a very large grant as well from US EPA, uh, the schools school district did so we would obviously leverage that grant as well. Thank you very much. Really appreciate it. Thank you. 00:14:44,100 there are other people that like to make a comment. It doesn’t, it doesn’t appear that we have anyone on Zoom, so, and, and the room can just keep going. 00:15:06,000 Hi, Dolly Galante 4:30 Shabacco Road in Hamilton, um, I, um, and just trying to see if I can possibly, one last time, I’ve been asking Questions in this type of forum and I’ve also asked, um, online in the regular post um regarding uh the building of the, uh, the building on the property where the, the wetland, not wetland situation is, um, uh, just to back up, I do, I work for a, um, construction company, um, general contractor, 00:15:29,570 all we do is municipal work. Police, fire, libraries, town halls, so on and so forth. Um, so I have a pretty good idea of bid processes once that you you start trying to get, you know, your, uh, subcontractors coming in with their pricing. 00:15:50,800 My question has been, the school be built on land that’s wet 100%. You can build anywhere if you have enough money to make sure. You do everything the proper way. 00:16:12,200 My question is, with talking with the, the owner of my company and project managers about the water what depth they found it at, how big this building that’s going on, they said it certainly can be done, but the pylons, the poolings, the aquifer, the things that have to be done in order to make sure a building this, this magnitude is built on it and then does not sink. 00:16:33,630 It is a minimum of at least $30 million for that, that, just that. And what I have been trying to ask is Is this in the budget? This is that many millions of dollars put aside for that. I’ve been go look here, go look here. Everybody’s telling, and I do. I find nothing, nowhere that actually says any quotes for anything has been brought in yet. 00:16:57,530 Anything. And that this money is not actually allocated within this 142. And the and that’s a minimum of $30 million. So this has change orders overrides already before it’s even started unless somebody can. Saying, oh yes, we know it’s going to cost this much money. 00:17:20,170 And we, and it’s in there and it is set aside. We, we allocated for that. I have not seen anywhere anything in writing or directly from anybody, yes, we’re accounting for 30 seconds and we have the money for that. That’s, that’s what I’m looking for because this is big, it is a big, big ask. This is huge on taxpayers. 00:17:42,930 I understand the benefits on one side, that’s not my argument. My argument is we’ve been given. This Process with this amount of money and I’m asking like, it’s not gonna be enough. Or is it? Is that money these millions of dollars set aside for the water issue. It’s 3 minutes. Thank you. 00:18:09,800 Anybody, so I’m, I’m not sure whether you have spoken before at our meeting, but as I said, it’s uh this is an opportunity for public to make comments and speak. It’s not a question and answer. Um, the committee is always happy. 00:18:28,900 So I would love for him to just say yes, we have the money of the people that I, I know that this is a frustrating, but that’s why I said at the beginning, we are happy to respond. People can respond to that. That’s what I would suggest, um, Bethur 270 Asbury Street, H E R R. 00:18:49,630 I just wanted to bounce off what she just said. If in fact it is not in the budget for that water, and then I would, if the consolidation were to come before the town and we were to pass it, I believe it should be on the hill and we should just get portable classrooms because, 00:19:07,830 um, I can’t imagine that that would be. $30 million to build on the hill, which we already know works building on the hill. Um, I just would never build on the hill. So I had talked to a neighbor who lived by. 00:19:24,000 She was a direct abutter to um the Cutler School and she lived there for over 5 decades, so I’m gonna read a statement that she wrote and signed and then I will email it to you. To whom it may concern. I lived on the corner of Asbury and Woodland Mead for over 5 decades. Years ago, Woodland Mead was a Road. 00:19:39,800 On the other side of Woodland Mead, there was a stream running parallel to the dirt road from Asbury Street through the current baseball field to where the current baseball field is located on the Cutler school property. 00:20:02,370 So I know that people have said that there wasn’t water issues, I’m just giving you this is someone who was a town clerk in Hamilton for a very long time. 00:20:18,230 She’s a very trusted and respected, um, citizens, so I will send you a copy of this letter, but I think it is important to be considered, um, and like I said, if, if we have a consolidated school, I think it should be built on the hill, and we should take the extra, even if it costs extra money. I think it’s a. or move. Thank you. Thank you. OK, do you have another, any other comment? OK. 00:20:41,800 Um, and there’s still no one on Zoom. OK Um, thank you all, um. I am Always appreciative of citizens that are paying attention and willing to come and make comments. Um, so thank you for that. Um, At this time, I’m going to close the public comment portion of the meeting. 00:21:05,230 Um, and next up, oh, I don’t think I handed out and asked, did I? Right do I don’t know. We’ll see. OK, uh, you guys can fight over it, um, next up is uh portion of the school committee protocols. David. 00:21:37,370 As elected members of the Hamilton Wyndham Regional School Committee, we, including the superintendent, except the high honor and trust that has been placed in us to ensure that the students of the district receive the best education possible. To that end, we hereby commit to the following in the conduct of our business. 00:21:58,730 Number 3, the school, school committee will establish a vision, create policy, approve a budget, and assure accountability to sustain continuous improvements in teaching, learning, and facilities. Members agreed. To leave the day to day operations, including business transactions to the superintendent and staff, members of the school committee recognized that authority rests only within the majority of its decisions. Thank you. Um, next up is a portion of the mission statement, Amy. 00:22:22,200 The Hamilton Runner Regional School District school committee’s mission is to ensure our schools create graduates with a passion for lifelong learning together with the critical skills needed to maximize their potential. 00:22:40,670 The Hamilton Bunham Regional School Committee will lead and inspire a district that is a source of civic pride and municipal engagement to serve the community for generations to come. Thank you. Uh, Julia, how are you doing on hearing? I’m hearing. OK, good. Just making sure. Um, sorry I think I muted my microphone. I’m glad. I just want to make sure you could hear, um. Next up is the consent agenda, um. 00:23:00,570 I have a couple of things that I wanna hold um. I’m going to ask to hold the Ed Fund mini grant on environmental science and the um Taiwan field trip. Do other people have anything else they’d like to have held from the consent agenda. Nope. Oh All right, David, when you’re ready. 00:23:26,130 Um, which had fun mini grant, the first one environmental science. It’s about 234 down. Excuse me. I move that the Hamilton Regional School Committee accept the consent agenda as percentage tonight’s agenda. Uh, with the exceptions of the Ed fund mini grant for the environmental science research equipment in the field trip to Taiwan. 00:23:54,470 Second, Um Uh Julia Yes, Dane is, yes, Amy, David, uh, and the motion passes of the 4 members, uh, unanimously of the four members present. Um, OK, so I wanted to just ask a quick question, Eric, about the, um, environmental science. Um, it looked fantastic. I thought it was awesome. 00:24:24,900 It, I was just intrigued about, I didn’t know it seems like it’s a co-run course. With Uh, southern New Hampshire University, is that? Yeah, so is that Because of the grant or I just want to make sure I understood about the course. 00:24:47,230 No, we’ve been moving towards, um, dual enrollment for kids so that they can get, um, opportunity to gain college credits while they’re still in high school and, uh, several of the local high schools have paired with, uh, SNHU. Um, either bringing in SNHU faculty or sharing or having courses approved for college credit. 00:25:05,030 So that’s the direction we’re going with, with, uh, several of our courses. This is, this is what we’re hoping to be the first kind of leading the way. Um, to make that connection for doing wrong. We’ve had dual enrollment. 00:25:19,900 This is where we’re trying to, um, make it specifically connected to a pathway, which is the direction you’ll see the state is going to begin to go with different pathways, um, over the next 4 or 5 years. So we’re, we’re trying to kind of get a jump on it. We’re actually behind several other schools in the area, but that’s that’s what it’s all about I guess what I what I thank you for that. 00:25:33,830 That was helpful. I, I just want to make sure I understand though, is the grant. Like with the course exist without the grant? No, because you need the equipment for to be able to give the kids the college credit. So. 00:25:53,030 How does it Like, is this like a pilot that how like in other words, what happens next year after the following year we would, we would have the environmental, uh, science class, uh, which would be considered connected to SNHU. They, they, um, approve our syllabus and approve it for kids to gain college credit. So. 00:26:12,870 Once, once we get kids into the course, we need to have certain levels of equipment for to to gain that college credit. So that’s what this helps us to do to bring it up to the equipment is not just a one thing that was what I was trying to ask. OK, this is some of it’s heavy duty equipment. 00:26:25,470 No, that’s what I just wanted to make sure I understood the so the course will be once we get the foundational equipment, of course we’ll be able to continue on for 4 years. That, that’s what I was asking. OK, thank you. 00:26:39,300 Um Does anybody else have any questions on that one? I don’t know. Um, OK, um, it’s kind of our first dip into the water with, with the dual enrollment. We want to get a few more courses up and running so you’ll see more coming, I was all for it. 00:26:54,630 I just wanted to make sure it was that we weren’t getting ourselves into something that was only gonna exist for one year. Um Uh, do you want to make a motion on that? Uh, I moved at the Hamilton Regional School Committee. Except the Ed fund mini grant as presented in tonight’s uh for the Environmental science research equipment as presented in tonight’s agenda. 00:27:19,570 2nd, seconded by Amy Kunberger, um, is there any further discussion? All right, uh, David. Yes, Amy, Dana iss yes Julia. Yes, OK, and that the motion that is unanimous of the 4 members present and the motion passes. Um The next item that I held was the um Taiwan field trip. Um I just had a few sort of like logistical question. 00:27:44,570 It’s a whole year away, um. What I, this is the 2nd time we’re running it, what grades? 8 11 and 12, that was my that was. Um, so it’s middle schoolers as well. Yeah, because it runs on a two year cycle. 00:28:03,800 Some kids would, are, are in a grade level where they would miss it all the way through. So we’re trying to give kids the opportunity. We’re also trying to fill 24 seats so that we can keep the cost where it’s at if we don’t have 24 seats, it gets cost prohibitive. 00:28:17,770 OK, um, I, I don’t know if other people, I have a couple of questions. I don’t know if other people have a couple of questions, um. So what provisions are there or are there any provisions for financial aid if students Yeah, always provisions for field trips, yeah, always opportunities, uh, for financial aid, financial assistance both through, um, 00:28:40,230 you know, the trip planners, if you will, and also, also through the school. Just noting that There’s a little check box for that that didn’t get checked off yes there’s off yes there’s any of our, any of our field trips we would make sure that kids have the opportunity I know it’s a whole year away, 00:28:58,470 but What I mean, we, I know we have, I know we, I was on the committee, we, when we had to cancel when COVID occurred and various world situations can change like. So Do Like We if we approve this now. 00:29:22,300 Uh Then when is the actual like when do they actually sort of give the thumbs up go. that They’ll they’ll start, um, Recruiting kids in the fall. Yeah, yeah, and, and we can do what we did last time. There is, there is an option to purchase the insurance. 00:29:40,030 We encourage every student because we’ve had that happen before where hypothetically say a worldwide pandemic some type of pandemic occurs, uh, yeah, so, so the kids do have the opportunity to add insurance. It’s fairly inexpensive. 00:29:57,000 The, um, The other thing is the last time we approved this, and I, I would suggest we do this the same way if people are comfortable, approve it pending a review. 30 days or 45 days before they leave because we know in global. You know, environment changes over time. So right now it’s a, it’s a level one, which is a safe place to go according to the US government, but. 00:30:14,270 We don’t know what it’ll be like in a in a year or 10 months, so well that was exactly my point is like, is there a, that’s exactly my point is that like this last time. Uh, we haven’t voted on it, so, but. Speaking for myself, this seems fine to me right now. I don’t know. 00:30:31,630 next February, what I’ll think about that. Um, OK, um, Is that the anticipated you’re anticipating bringing it back or we would need to vote on it that way. I would vote on it pending review. At least You know, 30 days before or 45 days before because I can look to the committee. 00:30:52,100 I mean, I’m gonna look to you, David, to make a motion and you can choose to make the motion to the work plan so we don’t lose it and then I’ll add it to the work plan so we don’t lose it, so I mean, and that’s again that was just me asking a 00:31:02,730 question. Maybe other people don’t have the same concerns. I think we should maybe plan to review it the 2nd meeting in February or the 1st meeting in March, so people have enough time to. Do what they need to do. Oh, I’m just wondering Maybe sooner. 00:31:20,770 And that Just how to word it, I mean, you guys can prove whatever I say. Should I do 45 days or should I just do? In March Um, let me say at least. 45 days flexibility, yeah. It’s hard. No, turn the fan back on. Excuse me. Um I moved at the Hamilton Regional School Committee. Approved the Taiwan 2526 school year. 00:32:08,830 Um, trip as presented in tonight’s agenda, pending review. At least 45 days prior to the scheduled departure date. Perfect. Second. Seed by Amy Kunberger. Um, is there further discussion on this item? Alright, looks like we’re ready to vote. Uh, Julie, just so you know, Jen has joined us. 00:32:29,730 I think 3 trips next year, I think. Um, Julia, I’m gonna start with you. Your vote, Julia. Oh mine? Oh, yes, sorry, I didn’t hear my name. Yes, uh, Dana’s yes, Amy David. All right, and that is unanimous of the 5 members present and the motion passes, and we will review that. 45 days or more. 00:33:02,230 OK. Alright, um, next up. Um So this is next year’s 2526 school committee meetings schedule. Um, I’m hoping that you all had a chance to Review the schedule and identify any Concerns or questions. I know I did identify a couple of things I wanted to address. 00:33:33,300 I don’t know if other people had any dates on there for next year that they wanted to ask a question or raise a concern. I don’t No. So far away. OK, it is OK, right, you’re, you’re ready for me then. OK, so Thursday, October 2, 2025 is um Yom Kippur. 00:34:00,370 I did my research though, um, it ends at sunset, sunsets at 6:23. I feel like we’re OK put it there so I just wanna make sure that everyone feels comfortable with that and also sort of to the general public, like we’re far out from that please. Send us information if you feel uncomfortable with that date. Um Similarly, December 18th is the 5th night of Hanukkah I. 00:34:22,300 Um, from my experience, felt Comfortable with that. It’s not the only night of Hanukkah, certainly. But again, just putting that out there. I don’t know, anyway. Um, then I had a question on why I know, I know why we have the February 18th date. 00:34:44,730 I know, I understand why that we have that we have that’s an if needed date, everybody knows that that’s um that we need is for budget that we build in an extra meeting if needed in case something goes awry. We’ve had it happen sometimes where weather is a problem. We’ve had a snowstorm, things like that. 00:35:00,800 You know there’s a problem and we need to vote that’s, but I’m wondering why is it on Wednesday, February 18th, and not Thursday, the 19th. Is that OK, that’s what I that’s in the regional agreement. That was a gimme Dana. 00:35:17,300 I know, but I just wanna make sure it wasn’t just a mistake because I was like, well I know that this year it was a Thursday like it was a, you know, and I was like we were able to get a whole week in this year. It’s so good to point it out though, to be able understand why, um, and my second reason for asking that is because it’s Ash Wednesday. 00:35:29,570 Mm, and I might not be able to make it that Wednesday because it’s Ash Wednesday. You don’t have on Wednesday nights in Boston. So again, this meeting is. An emergency kind of situation meeting, um. 00:35:56,230 So But You know, it I just wanna put that out there like I’m I’m aware and maybe in an emergency you could be on Zoom. I don’t know in an emergency, I’ll figure something out. Um. Uh, Ash Wednesday again and like people can help me out with my religious. 00:36:18,170 Understanding, but my understanding is that typically Ash Wednesday, um, the most religiously important is in I believe is that you attend during the day to attend church. I don’t believe that there’s a requirement that you’re not. Participate in the evening. I’m not sure again, please, if you. Members of the members of the public, let us know. huh? Excellent, um. Um, but any members of the public has a concern with that day. 00:36:38,470 Again, that is an emergency if needed date anyway, but did want to highlight that. That’s all I have. Anybody else have anything? a lot of things to say, I guess to deal with the 20th after I. You deal with the 20th later in the. This this year Yeah. 00:37:01,900 You’re talking about this? What are you talking about? 00, that later in the meeting. Oh, well, no, we might as well do it now. Yeah, I would say it’s on, I’m sorry, yeah, we, yes. 00:37:27,030 Yes, um, No, it’s not, it’s rights to no I’m glad that you brought that up so we had a few scheduling conflicts you’ll see later on there’s an actual scheduling conflict that we had planned, but Since you’re right, we also have a scheduling conflict on the Wednesday, the very first meeting there Wednesday, August 20th. Thank you, Eric. 00:37:45,230 Um, that was our, our retreat date and that’s one of those things you knew it was too easy when we were able to, um, it was way too easy. It was way too easy, um, so that is now not a great date. We have a committee member and Eric, both now have a conflict on that day. So do we wanna pick a new date now or well, there’s two things we need to do. 00:38:01,300 One, eventually we need to vote on something, but this is on this calendar, so we do need to, I’m glad you brought it up because we do need to discuss it now. We can try, we’re missing, well, we won’t have rents. Anyway, so we’re really just missing. David. 00:38:21,570 Um We can try to throw out a couple of other dates and then if not, again, as I like to talk about that open meeting law, the one thing you’re allowed to talk about as much as you want to is scheduling. So we could talk about that offline. Scheduling, um, but. 00:38:39,130 Does anyone wanna throw out a date that might work? Eric, do you want to throw out a date that might work? I mean, if you want to go the next day, I don’t know if people can do that, but schools, schools for Chicago. About the 18th. 00:39:01,030 We have, um, new teacher orientation a doodle I was just OK, so Amy is gonna take that on and try to get a retreat date. Um And I guess I do we want to do like a doodle pole. Do you know what that is a great idea. 00:39:20,270 Good idea, because that’s when you can like vote, yeah, no, no, no, Amy, that’s what Amy just said. I don’t think you could hear Amy just said she’s gonna send out I I didn’t hear I I didn’t hear. That’s OK. She was, yeah, so we’ll send out Amy will send out a doodle pole. We’ll get a date, um. 00:39:33,630 So that means, David, that if you’re looking at the, um, this list, it would be without that top line. OK You ready? I thought she was ready to do it. I was like, alright, you can do it. I moved at the Hamilton and Regional School Committee vote to approve the school committee meeting schedule. 00:40:01,300 Excuse me, as presented in tonight’s agenda with the exception of the Wednesday, August 20th, 2025 retreat date. Second by Jen Carr, um, All right, any discussion? OK, looks like we’re ready to vote. Um, 10 Yes. Dan is yes, Amy David. Yes Julia. Yes. 00:40:32,730 OK, and that is unanimous of the 5 members present and the motion passes, and Amy will be getting to us with. Um. pole of some sort to figure out what to do. Will do. OK. Um, so next up is uh. The composite superintendent evaluation. It’s a draft. Um, I just wanna make sure that everyone here got an opportunity. 00:40:59,470 Did you get the, um, I know that there was a little bit of logistics problems getting them open. That you got the individual evaluations and we’re able to see them. Is that? Yes, Julia. Yep, I got it. No, I, I got him, but I couldn’t open them and I didn’t, I’d already left the house by the time I got. 00:41:17,630 Janelle’s. You can open Janelle’s though, the ones I didn’t get a chance um, so that is my apology. I tried my hardest to get it out in a format that, um, people could read it that had to be my fault. 00:41:37,900 I I apologize as well because I did this, uh, a different way this year and I hit every Sort of roadblock imaginable. And I’m sorry, I got late to you. Excuse me, uh, you guys so late, and I think that sort of also helped with the, well, I, I learned a new skill, but apparently I didn’t do it quite um I don’t think so anyway, um, 00:41:57,900 so. Uh, I don’t know. I don’t know quite where, I mean, I don’t know quite where we want to start. Um David, do you wanna start and then um So, I guess I could suggest a sort of going through this, I guess it’s a little You know, we have 00:42:21,800 to just move on. With only 5 of us here, but There’s no reason why I shouldn’t just read through this at this point and. We can have a discussion. And just get Get it over with. Unless you disagree. Well, I mean, I wanted. 00:42:43,030 I don’t know why. I’m gonna, I feel like I’ve been talking a lot. I do have some thoughts. I don’t know if other people. I have some thoughts, um. It’s kind of like small feedback, but I. And Some of the spots, I feel like maybe there’s something missing, like, for example, um. 00:43:05,100 Page 5, you have Like a bunch of quotes and then at the bottom. There’s like feedback such as and and then it’s blank that was what I was gonna. You know, I just Wanna make sure we’re giving Eric feedback that it’s actionable. And not mysterious. No, I, so I wonder if it’s just worth like. I don’t know if maybe it’s the PDF and not. 00:43:26,300 What you sent. Um, but I feel like there’s some missing items just cause I feel like there’s not a lot of actionable stuff in here. Yeah, let’s go over that then. So, yeah, take, let’s take them all. I, I guess that that was sort of my Same 18 out of 10. 00:43:47,370 It like ends halfway through the sentence, yeah. And I guess that’s sort of my feeling too is that Yeah, and I, and I, I don’t say we shouldn’t go through it we can go through it, but overall I guess my, my feedback. is While I, I didn’t feel I. I didn’t read anything that I thought was. Uh, off base or incorrect. 00:44:11,130 But I I did feel like it was sort of not. Complete like it. Um, it feels. I wondered if there was more to it. It feels like there’s a lot of generalities. And I Did you know, so I just don’t know if, if we’re, if we’re ready to do it or if we need some more time. 00:44:30,370 Well, all right, I mean, this just goes back to what I was sort of saying earlier where I did it a different way. And everything sort of got messed up along the way. But like hearing this feedback, I’m definitely. 00:44:49,630 I, I feel that I should go back and just sort of do it how I’ve always done it, and I apologize, it’s just gonna have to take a an extra meeting to do. I apologize to you, Eric. Um things it’s got Sort of busy and I tried to. Try to expedite the process and it just didn’t work out right. 00:45:09,470 Um, well, I don’t, I mean, I don’t know what and I do want to say, David, that I did sort of look at the. Um Like the check marks. I, I think they’re accurate. Like I don’t, I don’t think there’s. I don’t think it’s inaccurate. I don’t it. So I’m not saying that I um. 00:45:28,630 So, I mean, I don’t know what you’re, what, what are you looking at? What would be, it’s it, is it helpful for us to go through it together? Would you rather go back and bring it back on the final day, a final. Like meeting, so I mean I’ll tell you what happened. I, I ran, I ran it through, um, um. 00:45:44,730 In AI analyzer. Right, and had it actually summarize it for me this year, which is something I’ve done a little bit in the past, but this time I just sort of let it run all the way through, and then I sent you a version of it and then in that 00:45:58,900 process, we realized that the quotes that it had pulled out weren’t exactly, weren’t quotes, but, uh, paraphrases of things were quote, so I went back and changed the quotes, but in doing that, I think I just ended up truncating some of the potentially compounded perhaps I’m not sure by Well, I guess 00:46:17,670 maybe I don’t know that I don’t know if there’s some just formatting issues like, like that happened when I was trying to send the Individuals that was the other thing too, and I was gonna get you into the the um the dynamics of PD highs, um. 00:46:40,730 Online systems, but I for I can’t use this computer on their internet system, so I had to use their computer, but it didn’t have all the programs that I normally use, then had to use like all the knockoff Adobe programs and stuff to build everything, which might have been the PDF problem. 00:46:59,900 and that’s also made it really far more difficult to edit than it should have been. So this is a huge, huge, huge learning curve for me. So I guess my question is my hesitancy about. Extending like I just wanna make sure we get this done really important, um. I’m glad that Eric now has the 7 individual. 00:47:29,270 Um Because I think In my opinion, having read the seven, I think they provided. Some more sort of nuanced and diverse opinions. That are important like it’s important to hear. Um That like it’s not just sort of Like a bland. 00:47:54,900 It’s, it’s a little more nuanced than that, and I think it’s good, but we need the composite to reflect that nuance a little bit, um. So I guess I’m at a loss about what’s the best way to guarantee that we get this done. Keeping in mind that if you look at item D under new business, there is a scheduling conflict on our final day so. 00:48:15,170 Like, I know, like, would it be helpful to have somebody here, here’s what’s going on now. I’m looking at the actual um Basing this off the PDF. This didn’t print all of everything that was written. OK, so this box the box should be extended. Um All right, that makes sense. 00:48:37,030 So I’m like, how did I miss that? Not saying I couldn’t, but Right, so you’re and that’s part of what happened to, I think, to like Jan was seeing when she was looking at the individual evaluations, she wasn’t seeing the same thing that I was seeing on my screen when I was sending it to her like I was seeing all 7, she, I, 00:48:52,000 I imagine you were seeing mine repeated over and over again, which is what David Frankel told me. He was like, I see 7 copies of one person’s evaluation. Sometimes Adobe does not like to play well with others what’s the, what is our I need. I don’t wanna speak for everyone. 00:49:08,630 You can overrule me, but I need for me, I would like an action plan on what date we’re gonna see a draft and how we’re gonna get it done. So now this sort of changes everything a little bit too though, because now the information is here. 00:49:23,170 That it’s in more that that you that what you guys are sort of stating that you’re worried about. It just didn’t print. For whatever reason, which means you guys didn’t see it in the PDF. I don’t know why that is. 00:49:42,730 in a I’m opening the PDF that I sent you you can see something different than it’s the one that I sent you. I’m not even looking at mine. I’m looking at the one. That I sent you. Well, at the bottom of whatever page that she just said, does it just end there? Combined eval now page 8. 00:50:03,730 So Uh, page 5 is the one I was just looking at. And I’m opening another version just to check. If you If you click on the box, all the text gets really tiny and condensed in the box so I didn’t do that so. Um, OK, so now my panic attack it. Don’t panic. I know I’m glad we’re having this conversation. 00:50:30,370 It’s a technology goes smoothly, but I was just like mortified it went that bad. OK. So, I still, unfortunately I don’t think we can. Well, I Well, don’t know Well,. 00:50:50,100 Yeah, I, you say what you think is the best thing so I mean I do think Let’s discuss this, what we have sort of here, I mean, I, you know what I can read through this. Make sure we send it out again. Yeah. So everyone can. 00:51:05,570 Make sure we see it with sort of the directions, click on the link to expand so that way we’re having the conversation we’re not kicking the can and then if there’s any sort of other feedback and then and then I think we should be able to vote it in the next meeting. OK, let me just make sure that that’s that’s fair. 00:51:17,470 I just wanna make sure that I’m, I’m using the one that’s on the agenda. It’s in the browser, so it might not. Oh, I have to open you might need to download it into Acrobat. I’m not even in acrobat. I’m just in one,, is really, tiny for whatever reason it That’s the whole point of PDFs. 00:51:39,030 They’re supposed to just show the way that you made them, I didn’t do it in Acrobat. Oh, you made it from what word? So Whatever I was in that. Yeah, it. Not sure that I’m actually smart enough to get it to do that. Um we have faith in you. Downloading. Right click on that download, or click on the, yeah, right click on that or click control click that. 00:52:05,400 All right, hold on, I’m just having a. with acrobats. It doesn’t offer that new window incognito window the little download tab. but No. Sorry. I. Yes. then with So. where it might work. It might open in preview, but OK, um, or you can click on that little folder. and Then it should open an acrobat. Yes, there we go. 00:52:47,930 All right, um, all right, so Julia, are you able to look at this document in Acrobat where you can see. Like if you click on the, are you able to, yeah, I don’t even know how to ask the question. I downloaded it and and did the PDF thing. 00:53:07,200 OK, all right, and Jen, you’re able to see it all? OK, sorry all that you had to wait for my technology issues, um, all right, I need a glass of water, that’s fair. OK, David, go. Oh OK I’m sorry. Excuse me. Excuse me. So go through, uh, Eric Tracy’s, um, summit of evaluation. 00:53:36,470 Um And he has been founder of have met all of his standards, um, so we’ll just go through one by one and just um what I have together. So step one, assess progress towards goals. Right, uh, professional practice goals came out as a met. Student learning goals. met District improvement goals met. Right. 00:54:06,930 Step 2 assess performance on standards, um, referencing performance ratings per standard. Standard one instructional leadership has been found proficient, stared at two management and operations has been found proficient. Standard 3 family and community engagement has been found proficient and standard for professional culture has been found proficient. The overall summer performance and step 3, proficient. Um, some evaluator comments. 00:54:36,370 Superintendent Tracy’s performance during the 2024, 2025 cycle was consistently rated as, uh, proficient by all evaluators. I thought, I thought I’d change that wording. Um, he demonstrated effective leadership and district management, operations and communication while advancing district priorities and maintaining a steady focus on student, uh, safety and achievement. 00:54:58,100 His commitment to transparency and responsiveness has been evident throughout the years. noted by committee members, um, some quotes include the number of hours that Eric Tracy spends working for the students of our district is extraordinary. Superintendent Tracy effectively balances long-term district goals with daily management needs. He maintains positive relationships with staff and community. 00:56:17,230 Opportunities for uh for growth remain particularly in the proactive use of data to address student performance trends in closing achievement gaps between schools. A couple of quotes there I’m sorry, do you see more. Oh, it is more. Sorry. 00:56:40,730 Continuing to click click yes there are areas of continued growth, especially in the use of data to identify emerging trends in student performance, especially with one elementary school’s consistent underperformance and ongoing work in instructional leadership and closing achievement gaps remains important. Excuse me. I don’t want to, but Would it be OK to like take it section by section like if anyone has any comments on that section. Um, I have one quick comment, but I’ll let other people. 00:57:06,000 So if, um, I don’t know if Julia, I don’t know if you can hear, but just I was just I can hear I can hear if it’s OK with the committee if we do sort of section by section if people have a comment. Or a question I don’t have a question. 00:57:22,370 Um, you know, I read, I did read through it and, um, I, of course, I didn’t read every individual evaluation before and then read it and then try to compare it all, um, but I do feel seen in this evaluation, so you do or you do not? She does. She does correct. You do. 00:57:43,900 I do feel a scene. Dave, I feel seen you know I see you, Julia. I know, I know, I think, um, yeah, I also, I also think, yeah, AI tools hallucinate and. They just, they give us the answers that we want, so nothing is perfect, but I, I, I felt very seen. 00:58:07,870 I didn’t have any real problems with it. So, and I can hear you as well. Good. Um, I just had a, on this particular part, I just wanted to say I really have a concern about the first. I thought I had actually changed that because that’s actually not correct. The, he wasn’t there was a diversity of ratings. 00:58:28,630 They weren’t all proficient. Some of them were exemplary, some of them were proficient, some of them were needs improvement. So, um, That’s kind of what I was sort of saying about hoping that we could have a little more of the nuance reflected. 00:58:43,000 Yeah, yeah, yeah, and I, like I said, I actually thought, because I remember you and I actually speaking about that and I thought I actually came up with a different sentence and I just might not have actually written it down. But I, I hear you and I actually, as soon as I reread that I remember that conversation and I know we’re gonna keep going. 00:58:59,100 We want to, but I, I wanna to reflect that. I felt like a lot of the quotes reflected. And to Julia’s point, I felt seen like they reflected my thoughts. At the same time. I Felt like some of the quotes. I had a hard time finding who actually said them. 00:59:22,570 Like I, I thought about actually because I went in and I pulled them out myself by hand, but and I was gonna actually No, I’m not saying that it should say who said them. What I’m saying is I’m not sure all these quotes. I wasn’t really able, I might be wrong. 00:59:38,000 But I was like I, I feel like some of them are still sent you. Yeah, but of course I’m had some technical difficulties with it, so I kind of got the same sense too like. Again, like the overall sentiment feels correct or, you know, I see things that I like actual quotes. 00:59:56,300 So like in other words, I can’t remember which one, but there was one that I was like, oh, I wonder who said that, and I went looking for it and I couldn’t find it. 01:00:12,730 I found that people said similar things, but So I guess I wondered if it We just wanna make double double check that like it’s in quotes so it should be a direct quote. Somebody should actually have said exactly that. Otherwise, it should just be rewritten. Um, in a, in a, like a paragraph instead of a direct quote. 01:00:28,800 Um, I’m sorry, I don’t, I don’t, I do want to keep going because I don’t want to spend forever on this. This is what I need. For notes. All right, so we’ve gone to the next section uh student learning goal, number one, multi-tiered system of support MTSS, uh, found that you’ve met the standard. professional practice call to. Evaluate and update current districtwide multi-hazard response plan. You’ve met. That goal as well. 01:01:03,370 Uh, goal number 3, district improvement goal complete educational plan for Bucher Pre-K and K. Excuse me, um, it met that goal as well. And then District 4 District improvement plan, manage multiple building construction projects throughout the school year, you’ve met that as well. Can I say one thing. Just, just on professional practice goal too. 01:01:27,370 The Pop’s uh plan is here if you want to see it it’s not for public consumption because that’s how we respond to different emergencies, um, but it’s here if you want to see it, you know, I kind of said, oh, it’s, it’s all set. 01:01:41,370 It’s almost done. So I just wanted to bring a copy so people knew it was actually done and that would be available like we could get that from Janelle at your office if we wanted to see it at a different time or. 01:01:55,100 Is that open to everybody? Yeah, we got to keep it in. I just want to make sure that was clear to not anyone to just stop and dangerous. Right. Um, excuse me. Superintendent’s performance rating for standard one instructional leadership. Um, Section 1A curriculum ensures that all, uh, instructional staff design effective and rigorous standards-based units of instruction consisting of well-structured lessons with measurable outcomes. 01:02:27,270 Um, you’ve uh been found proficient. they informed decision 1E data formed decision making used multiple sources of evidence related to student learning, including state district, and school assessment results and growth data to inform school district goals and approved organizational performance, educator effectiveness and student learning. They found proficient. 01:02:56,000 In 1F student learning demonstrates effective, uh, expected impact on student learning based on multiple measures of student learning, growth and achievement. Including student uh progress on common assessments in statewide student growth measures were available. Also we found uh proficient. The committee recognized his commitment to improving curriculum. Delivery and supporting staff with resources and guidance needed to meet district goals. I’m laughing because my eyesight’s getting worse and worse. As I go. 01:03:51,000 I brought my glasses, yes. And there knew he could tell because the sticker’s still on them. Oh, that’s better. All right. Um, The community members commented that MTSS has been ongoing effective in supporting the student learning, new math curricula were introduced in elementary and high school and Mr. 01:04:18,230 Tracy actively monitors these new programs with data as well as direct observations during frequent walkthroughs. Do people have comments on this section? Um, so I guess my comment is just the same sort of that I, I sort of, I’m looking, I’m I would like it to reflect like some member, and I don’t actually 01:05:27,370 even know, but like some members actually. Um, you know, highlighted or thought this was exemplary, other members felt like it was um. Yep. Um But again, I didn’t, I did feel like, yeah, these are. Things that I said in general, um. Anything else? Anybody on this one? No, I echo. Your thoughts. Same thing as the first part. 01:05:58,030 OK. All right, so move on to standard 2 management and operations, uh, two-way environment develops and executes effective plans, procedures, routines, and operational systems to address a full range of safety, health, emotional, and social needs. It’s far proficient. 01:06:23,730 Uh, 2D law, ethics, and policiestas and complies with state and federal laws and mandates, school committee policies, collective bargaining agreements, and ethical guidelines proficient and the overall rating for standard 2 management and operations is proficient. Um, so for standard 3 family and community engagement 3A engagement actively assures that all families are welcome members of the classroom and school community and contribute to the effectiveness of the classroom, school, and district community is found proficient 01:08:09,000 in the overall rating of standard 3 Family and community engagement was proficient. Thoughts on the comments on that final. 01:10:57,500 So Um, so I guess, is there, are there any further sort of feedback for David? About what we’re looking for when it comes back I have a pretty good understanding on. What needs to happen here and then then rebre one more thing. I don’t know if anybody else has anything. anything? No, so I want to make sure, um, We have 2 members that aren’t here. 01:11:14,230 I don’t want to speak for them, but. I do want to make sure, and I know that you did a nice job with this last year that if there are You know, like, if, for example, a single member has. 01:11:34,830 You know, I wanna have a They have an outlier view I guess if someone has an outlier view, I do want some. It’s a tricky thing, but I do want to make sure that there’s some acknowledgement of like everyone in on the committee should see. 01:11:53,100 Some of their work in here and I wanna make sure that that’s true and it’s difficult because I’m not really speaking for myself. I do see. Things that Um, that I wrote in here, but I want to make sure. that everybody is, so I just. I’m not saying it’s not there. I just want to make sure that it is. Um, does that make sense? Yes. OK. 01:12:14,530 Um, so what’s our plan? We’re gonna bring it back. I’ll, uh, yeah, I’ll edit this. Take the feedback. Get it back out to you guys and I think it would be really helpful to get it back as soon as possible so that we can. 01:12:36,470 So we don’t have technology issues for one thing, um graduated, so no more of that when, when can we expect to get this. I’ll get it done this weekend. So the committee would get it on the by the 9th. That’s a big day, you know, the 9th. Oh But what’s going on. 01:12:59,300 Um, OK, so David will send this out by the 9th, um, to everybody and um. And I just really encourage everyone to like open it, read it. I’m really prepared because we’re gonna need to Move it through at the next meeting, hopefully. 01:13:21,170 Is that good? Everybody’s good? Is there anything you need assistance wise, like you want anybody to, we could appoint you a partner or we could, no, no I can’t get you a new computer. It’s not my computer is fine. It’s the technology where I work. I’m just gonna do it at home and it’ll take me an hour as opposed to 10. Um OK. 01:13:42,670 Um All right, thank you all for being my tech support while we got through that. We’ll see you, Amy. Thank you. Um, the big bucks. That’s right. All right, so David Plito will submit by the 9th. Huh? Um, OK. Um Next up is the district goals. I’m sorry Eric, I didn’t even let you. 01:14:10,370 Did you wanna talk? If you want to talk and talk about you for I’m good for now. Thank you. I was very focused. I’m sorry. Um, Right Uh District goals report. You’re gonna be happy to know I have notes. No. Thank you very much. 01:14:41,200 The district goals report is a compilation of the goals that we set back in August of last year. Um, we’ve asked the leadership team to sit down and go through each of the goals, uh, some were assigned specific goals and somebody, some were assigned just to assist in gathering, uh, information and data, so. Uh, it’s, it’s pretty lengthy. 01:15:00,100 I think it’s 31 pages long, but it really comes down to a number of interesting, um, tidbits like Finally moving to integrating the portrait of a learner across the district and working, uh, secondary school has a deeper connection to this because of their accreditation, their accreditation is based on this and the success of finally 01:15:19,270 measuring it. So they’ve been doing this for a couple of years. Middle school, I started to, to kind of move up the grid well focused on the communicate, uh, segment of it. And then, um, really working with the elementary. 01:15:37,300 To help connect the responsive classroom and their cash values in each of the schools to the portrait of learner has been a little bit tricky, but we’re still working towards, uh, figuring through that, um, Also in the report, the MTSS structures continue to strengthen, um, we, as you know, we, we integrated Eureka mouth too, and that was, uh, really instrumental in driving academic growth at the elementary level. 01:15:58,730 Uh, it was, uh. Interesting to see the 81% of our elementary students met their mid-year benchmarks, uh, for math, which is Not usual for us, so that’s, that’s nice, and then, uh, even on the CQLA side, kids in tier two sports are, are showing, um. Strong growth as well. 01:16:19,130 The other piece of that puzzle has been the wind block, the implementation of wind block, which I have to say publicly that I was, um, skeptic of, but it is, uh, Really helping to target academic supports and give people opportunities to meet with kids individually without pulling them from their, their tier one instruction. 01:16:39,770 Um The report also talks about some of the tier 2 interventions, we really try to focus on that as part of this multi-year plan and tier 2. Really is a the the area we want to focus now because we feel like we have the CQLA curriculum in place, Eureka math curriculum in place at tier one, if you will, the 01:16:55,170 tier 2 of the, the kids that may still need some assistance along the way, um, and then giving them access to the to the things grade level appropriate is what we really keep trying to focus on and make sure kids have access to grade-level materials which, which in the past previous to 01:17:10,870 this MTS structure, uh, wasn’t always true. Um, we have implementation of different curricula across a number of the schools, including the trial of HMH, um, at the middle school, the ELA curriculum. And then, um, reveal math at the high school, which was supported by Alex, uh, support system with, uh, Starath has the performance tracker. 01:17:35,470 We, we feel like we’re using student growth data, data better because we have more longitudinal data that has helped us to understand. Uh, how kids are moving across. The school year spectrum, um, using things like Star, I already, early bird, and Dibble to track literacy, math, and, and, uh, even intervention opportunities. 01:17:55,730 And, uh, that goes all the way up through, uh, the high school, so that’s been helpful. One of the highlights of that is the 6th grade students in the Miles River Middle School was shown a fairly substantial jump from 51 to 80%, uh, at or above grade level. Uh, which is a huge jump for us. 01:18:16,630 Um, executive functioning supports have really been a goal of. The high school, but we all are starting to look at them at the different grade levels and, um, really trying to, in the 9th grade help kids to have this common toolbox, if you will, uh, so they, they have structured routines, agenda books and that 01:18:34,730 consistency through Power Block with check-ins, um, middle school is also doing that with structured routines and really trying to help kids to, um, Get organized earlier on so that they’re not stuck in 10th or 11th grade trying to figure out how to organize all their things. 01:18:52,730 Um We also worked with the Department of Education, the teacher rubric, uh, integrating that we made sure we shared the crosswalk with our teaching staff through, uh, department meetings, uh, excuse me, um, faculty meetings, uh, working with the principals and trying to make sure that everybody had it, understood it, knew the differences, um, and right now I’m as I’m doing the 01:19:13,570 writing the principal evaluations and looking back at what they wrote related to this new rubric so that I can get an idea of where they are as well. So that’ll be. Um, interesting, but it was uh. 01:19:28,030 It was, it was one of those things that we weren’t sure exactly how to do it in the just before school started, DE came out with this, this crosswalk that was super helpful to, to make these things up a little bit easier for everybody and put everybody on the same. 01:19:43,730 Uh, playing field in the era of technology, we, we rolled out a number of enhancements, um, including that E 911 that we’ve been trying to implement, we will have that up and running, uh, fairly soon. Uh, Chromebooks will be selected for use at middle school where we’re gonna stop using like iPads one year, Chromebooks another year, so we really looked at Chromebooks. That’s also a cost saver for us, um. 01:20:02,830 The nice thing about interactive smartboards, as you know, even for the past 3 years, putting them into all of our schools, they are standard in classrooms. Um, and we’re also taking advantage of that to use digital assessments from any of the, the curriculum that we we purchase has digital packages that we can use, uh, both for 01:20:20,230 teaching and, uh, for assessment. And then the kind of the The, the bigger push is, uh, the progress on capital projects. We had the elementary school project moving forward this year, the athletic facilities, uh, project. 01:20:41,170 Uh, currently is under budget and targeted to be complete right around mid August, just before our spring, our fall seasons, uh, begin. Um, putting down the track. Today they were putting on the track when I was up there, so that’s kind of interesting to watch. Um High school roof project we have, uh, been assigned an OPM and um A designer by MSBA. 01:21:00,900 We haven’t really gone much further than that other than to walk the roof and get an idea of the scope of the, the project. So, um, the OPM will, will give us our, um, draft of their Uh, what they believe it’ll cost them to do their work and then this designer will do the same, we negotiate with them through the MSBA. 01:21:20,370 And then, um, the capital improvement plan, as you know, is up and running this year, uh, principals have weighed in and continue to weigh in. And, uh, we’ll evaluate that late August, early September, so that we have things ready for the, the budget, the capital budget when we start to look at the FY 27. school budget. Thank you. Yeah, just some highlights. 01:21:45,230 OK, uh, questions for the superintendent on that? Um, I actually did have one. Why did we decide to go with Chromebooks instead of Apple. Chromebooks go out of. Date and nonfunctional so much sooner. 01:22:09,800 Yeah, there’s a couple of reasons, uh, Chromebooks, um, function for us on our native platform where we’re using Google, much more cleanly. Uh, they’re a little bit easier for us to manage because of that, because we manage it through the Google dashboard. Um, it’s also a lot more expensive. It’s about. Almost half the price, maybe slightly slightly under half, I think it is twice as often twice. 01:22:26,870 Yeah twice twice as often. Yeah, and then, um, we also use them. They’re, they’re much easier to use also with, with, uh, requirements for MCAS. That is the iPads have been problematic for MCASS. I heard that. 01:22:47,030 You have other questions? Anybody else? Julia, I have a question, um, just only because I, I just know someone in this situation, but I, it’s great to see that, you know, we’re growing sort of in in math performance of the middle school, but it really looks like students with IPs, um, especially, uh, I think I saw like in the 7th grade are are really having a tough time kind of catching up, so I guess 01:23:08,530 I’m just wondering. Is there anything we can do as a committee? Do we need additional supports or staffing, like what else can we do to help these students for catch up part of the conversation we started having with the leadership team as we saw these data sets get completed to to 01:23:27,100 get back we set that, uh, goal through our student, uh, our SOA. That we sile with the state is one of the focus groups is the students with disabilities and that part of that process has been tracking them over multiple years, but also trying to hone in on what we’re missing, and we, we 01:23:44,270 realized that some of our um moderate supports are, um, We need to be tweaked so that they better align with and understand the current literacy model using CKLA. 01:24:02,370 Um, we have two kinds of side by side models, so a child would have CKLA in the classroom, but then when they get pulled out for supports, they’re using, uh, Orton Gillingham, which is, which is a little bit of a different approach, a very different approach actually. 01:24:21,100 So we’re gonna look at that as a whole starting right through the elementary school and try to figure out how that we can better train our uh Moderate special ed staff and also looking at interventions and how those occurring for kids with disabilities and make sure that we’re You know, approaching it the right way. 01:24:35,500 There’s a lot of work to do in that area and that’s one of the focus areas for our goals that you’ll see come next meeting, you’ll see when we give when we bring the goals that that’s one of the highlight goals. Thank you. Are the people? Think so. These are all good questions though, I have to say I have lots of notes, but you’ll be happy, you know, you hit lots of them, so they’re not gonna be as many at all. 01:24:53,000 Um, one thing I wanted to say was, um, I was really happy about all the. Data and connecting the data to action and it was, I thought it was fantastic. 01:25:15,000 I’m gonna be honest that as I read it, I got a little bit anxious about the amount of work and meetings that it requires to do that much crunching of data and using data and so I guess that’s more of a. 01:25:31,670 Concern for the future like about how, I don’t know if that’s something that you want to address or it’s just a concern like about how challenging it is, the amount of work that teachers are having to do. Collect, analyze, and then implement on the data processing a lot of a lot of the, um, Collection is what we’ve looked at over the years through MTSS when we were initially started out. One of the first things we noticed is like, wow, we have a lot of assessment data. 01:25:50,230 We have a lot gathering a lot of data so we’re stopping to gather data far more often than we want. Now we do it at 3 times a year rather than all throughout the year. Um, and that 3 times allows us to get that data, drop it in one place. Um, we’re using. 01:26:07,270 Technology as much as we can to Collect and aggregate the data for us. So really a lot of things like dibbles, we get reports that kind of come out the other end for us, so we’re not sitting there trying to figure out how to manage the reports. 01:26:22,230 We get these canned reports that give us the information that we want and if we want to go deeper, we can, you know, really with a click of a few buttons go deeper, um, a lot of the, the work that that’s done goes through, uh, director of curriculum and, uh, teaching and learning. 01:26:40,370 I mean, uh, Jen Clifford’s office and She works with the coaches and the principals and they, they generally manage that stuff once the teachers do the assessments and. Then, um, develop those conversations like they’ll analyze the data initially and try to figure out, OK, what are the salient points that we need to hit with our 30-minute meeting that we have for For a day, you know, data 01:26:54,900 meeting with grade level teams, for instance, so. We’re getting better at it, I just, I mean it was very, I was really pleased with the like what the content of like how you were using the data and the meetings and the data collection, but I really 01:27:08,130 did sort of, there was a part of me that was like. Wow, this is a lot for it’s kind of a subteam when you think about we have, um, Really 4 people, uh, that are the three coaches at 1 at each school, um, and then the, the person above them 01:27:24,730 who’s doing all the literally looking at all the interventions and designing interventions and pushing them towards, uh, the intervention specialists and then you go to the next layer of the ESPs and what we call the LAC, which is literacy interventions. 01:27:39,830 So a lot of that’s being done by that group, done and managed by that group, so that’s helpful, you know, teachers aren’t having to create. Data they’re not creating spreadsheets, they’re not sitting there looking at a spreadsheet trying to find something. So a lot of that work’s done ahead of time. Um, thank you, um, then. 01:27:58,000 Again you did you you touched on a lot of the things that I wrote about, which is great. Yeah, you were reading my scribbles over here, um. I came away from the report. 01:28:19,100 This is just really maybe just a me thing that I can address realizing I don’t have as complete an understanding of our new sort of capital um plan where um but my understanding is that some of that is gonna come in August that we’re gonna get so I’m not gonna worry about it for now, but I’m just like I realize that I in reading this, I was like, you know what, I don’t actually have a really super 01:28:30,300 clear vision of how the flow is gonna work um to simplify it, it’s really. gathering the data, which. Which Curtis is, is sent out to the principals and district leaders to be able to say, OK, what are the big items? We gather that data bring that data to the committee. 01:28:51,200 Prioritizing that data, getting some the subcommittee, yeah, getting prioritizing that data and then getting, uh, kind of high level pricing so we can move forward into the budget process with some actual numbers. Yeah. 01:29:06,500 So anyway, I just, I look forward to hearing more about that in August because I was, as I was reading it, I was like, yeah, maybe I’m not as clear on this as I thought and the subcommittee is a nice group of both school side people and town side people, so that would be helpful too. That gives them a little bit more transparency into the process. Um, thank you. 01:29:23,770 Yeah I notice we’re focusing on positive metrics, which is great, but is there a group of students at this MTSS is just not working for. Yeah, we just talked about kids with disabilities are struggling. 01:29:41,000 Um, with the interventions that they’re currently getting, so we’re looking at how we can make adjustments to better suit, to better meet their needs because we’re clearly not. It says it several times through this report. Zach talks about it a lot in the middle school piece and, and I think, you know, we see that. At every single level and you’ll see that. I mean we see it on MAS data, we see it in our, our assessment data. 01:29:55,870 So the, the bigger question is, How can we make the shift to help kids who are sometimes 2 or 3 years behind access that grade level curriculum. So that’s what we’re, we’re really wrestling with a little bit right now. We have some ideas that we think will work. 01:30:14,100 It’s just a matter of we, we really need to retrain some staff and then really redeploy some other stuff so that we can Focus more deeply on that. I mean, some kids come in your class and they’re, they’re already at the blue level, you know, you don’t, you don’t really worry about them, and then some come in at the bottom of that red level 01:30:27,930 and you’re, you’re really working hard. Teachers work hard to get those kids to move forward, and a lot of those teachers take the interventions personally where they keep the kids during their intervention time and work with them because they feel like that’s my responsibility. 01:30:39,100 I got to do that, but we’re also looking at the, the moderate supports when a when a child’s taken from a classroom. What’s happening and how is it aligning with what’s happening in the classroom, um, where we’ve seen that positively is with our elves. RL teacher is uh in the classrooms specifically understands the lesson that may be happening in CQLA. 01:31:02,730 She’ll take that same exact lesson and break it down in a in the support, so. That’s something we need to look out for our special ed students. Yeah, it’s a, it’s a big concern for us. You’ll see that goal, probably number one next year. It’s really a big concern. Thank you. 01:31:19,730 Other people? Yeah, this is really Not a really specific details and like things to look out for coming up, so this is great. It gives us a baseline but also gives us an opportunity to look towards some other. Uh, changes that we’ll need to make. 01:31:39,530 As we move forward, especially with MTSS, we, you know, go back 3 years when we started this, we said it’s gonna be 5 to 7 years to get this up and running and we’ve been really working hard with our staff, our teaching staff and our support staff has been Uh, really working hard to not only put in a new curriculum again. 01:31:56,530 With the eureka math, but also trying to figure out the ways to best support kids, um, whose skills may be 2 or 3 grade levels behind, um, in some cases, so. It’s, it’s, it’s a, it’s a fascinating thing to, to look at and dig through, so. 01:32:20,000 Thank you for that as a lot of work to our district goals this year that. Yeah, there’s a lot going on behind the scenes, you know, everybody’s talking about, oh, the, the elementary school, elementary school, but it’s actually a lot of other things going on in the um. OK, we feel like we’re ready to move on? Thank you very much for that. 01:32:37,630 Thank you. Um, next up is pretty straightforward, but we do need to figure it out. So, um, we have a conflict. Our final meeting of the year, which we do need to have, we have things on that need to be on that agenda. Um, is scheduled for June 26th. 01:32:59,030 Um, the town of Hamilton has a town meeting. That Night. So Is that actually posted yet? Yes, it’s at 6:30 p.m. On June 26th. Is that the school 3A. Um, but Um You still want to be there. Correct. We have it’s a It’s a town meeting in Hamilton. 01:33:28,900 It’s I’m Not even sure that the town clerk would allow us to have a meeting that’s, I don’t know, I’m not sure, um, so. We do, we do need to have a meeting. I My initial thought was I thought sort of thought initially that the special town meeting would start at 7 and then maybe we could just start at 6. but it’s actually posted for 6:30. 01:33:48,000 It doesn’t have an agenda yet, like it’s just on the calendar. It doesn’t have the warrant, isn’t actually posted yet, um. So Um, Eric and I sort of talked about the people want to look at the early like the 23rd, 24th or 25th that week. I can’t do the 23rd or the 25th. I teach those evenings. OK. 01:34:07,870 From 4:30 on. Um Alternatively, I mean, we could try to just make it earlier on the twenty-sixth. I don’t know how people feel about that or maybe the 24th works, the 24th works for you, right? Maybe the 24th works for everyone. It works for me. Works for me. 24th works for me. 01:34:24,530 OK, David. It might not, but uh I 23rd I’m away. If the majority. Right, no, well, right, and I don’t. Do we anticipate needing more than a quorum. We don’t know a lot of things depend on a lot of things, yeah, we don’t know. Well, if that was the case, I would make sure I’m here. 01:34:48,400 Right, um, So, and we don’t have two members here, but I do think it is important for us to pick a date that we can at least. It, it So I heard the 24th. I that works for. Let’s do I be at UNH, but it’s my last day of school, so I might not be at UNH. OK. 01:35:10,230 Um, do we want to say 7 o’clock as usual, you know what, I could zoom in if I needed to. You could zoom in. Yes, virtual would be fine. Um OK, so let’s do that, the 24th, OK. Um, 24th at 7 p.m. OK And absolutely there’s no reason people can’t. Be virtual if they need to be. 01:35:36,900 Um Alright Uh, I guess we need to take a vote. Uh, I move. That the Hamilton Regional School District. Um, change our. June 26th. Meaning to Tuesday, June 24th. Seconded by Jen Carr, is there any other discussion? No. All right, uh, Julia. Yes, yes, yes, Amy, David, yes. 01:36:11,730 And that is unanimous of the 5 members present, and the motion passes, and we will. Um Get the word out. Um, I will send that out to the committee. We’ll post it on our. switch it up on our calendar. OK. Um, next up we have town meeting logistics. 01:36:42,130 We have a couple of different logistics things that we need to do ahead of time meeting on the 9th, um. One is, yeah, I don’t know which one you wanna talk about first. We can talk about the paperwork that we need to achieve and we also have to talk about, we have some, uh, Additional like legal requirements that we have to take care of. 01:37:01,870 And we also want to talk about having the town meetings simultaneously poses a little bit of a challenge in terms of presentation and who’s gonna talk. I don’t know which one you want to take on first let’s let’s do the, uh, we need to reauthorize the debt because we’re outside of the 60-day window. 01:37:21,200 Um, and you authorize that you have. 60 day window for it to be out of town, be presented at a town meeting. So, uh, we just need to reauthorize that, um, glad Dave brought his glasses because he’ll have to read that statement again and put a pile of paper on it. 01:37:36,470 There it is. It’s very long. So just so everyone knows this is the exact same exactly the same thorizing it so that we’re within the 60 day window of a town meeting. And that was something that we learned today from our bond council, but we wanted to make sure that we got this done this evening. 01:37:57,830 All right, I’m feeling motivated here we go. I moved the Hamilton Regional School District hereby appropriates the amount of 1 million. $142266,034 for the purpose of paying costs for designing, constructing and equipping the new Cutler Elementary School at 237 Asbury Street, Hamilton, Mass, including the payment of all costs incidental or related thereto, the project, which 01:38:32,170 school facility shall have an anticipated useful life as an educational facility for the instructional. For the instruction of school children of at least 50 years, and for which the district may be eligible for school construction grant for the Massachusetts Building Authority MSBA. 01:38:51,770 Set him out to be expended at the direction of the Hamilton Wyndham School Building Committee. To meet this appropriation, the district is authorized to borrow a set amount under and pursuant to chapter 71, Section 16D of the general laws and the district agreement as amended in pursuant to any enabling authority. 01:39:18,500 The district acknowledges that the MSBA’s grant program is a non-entitlement discretionary program based on need as determined by the MSBA and any project costs the district incurs in excess of any grant approved by and received from the RSPA shall be the sole responsibility of the district provided further that any grant that the district may receive from the MSBA shall not exceed the lesser of 151.28%. Of eligible approved. 01:39:54,100 Project costs, sorry, um, as determined by the MSBA or 2, the total maximum grant amount determined by the MSBA in that the amount of borrowing authorized pursuant to this vote shall be reduced by any grant amount set forth by the project funding agreement that may be executed between the district and the MSBA. 01:40:06,230 Further voted that within 7 days from the date of which the vote is adopted, the secretary will be and hereby is instructed to notify the select board of each of the member towns of this district as the amount in general purpose of the debt here in authorized as required by the district agreement and by chapter 71, 01:40:25,200 Section 16D of the general laws. 2nd, 2 by Amy Klimburger. Um, thank you, David. Um So just so everyone is clear this is the exact same language that we have voted on in February. Um, does anyone have any questions? No OK. Looks like we’re ready to vote. David Yes, Amy, yes, Anna, yes, John. Yes, Julia. 01:40:56,630 Yes. All right, and that is unanimous of the five members present and the motion passes. Um And we will send that to. The select boards. Yep, we’ll do that tomorrow. I’ll have the treasurer send those out tomorrow. Usually hand deliver them. Part two. Part two, logistics. 01:41:22,470 Although logistics maybe we could do it. I can’t be split in half and put in two places, uh, because both town meetings are happening at the same time. It’s uh. We tried to get a a video. 01:41:37,470 permission to do a video in one of the communities, when I’m, and they denied us. The ability I was gonna just do a video of myself given the same presentation that I was going to do in Hamilton. They denied that. They don’t want to go down that road and open up that can of worms, which I kind of understand, um, so. 01:41:50,500 Where We’ve been kind of fishing a little bit, try to figure out, uh, how best to do that. So the current plan on the table, if people are OK with it, is our director of teaching and learning, Jennifer Clifford. will do the presentation. She is very familiar with the ad plan. 01:42:08,230 Um, understands he had plan, and then we’ll have Kevin Nigro. ROPM there for kind of the, the bigger questions that she may or may not. able to answer, uh, she has, she’s already in prep mode, so she’ll probably be able to answer them all by the time they’re there, but, uh, yeah, and win them, so yeah, 01:42:22,100 I’d be in one of them. So I’ll go to Hamilton and I can manage that, um, and, uh, the one I would be en doing the presentation, Jen, and, and, uh, Kevin and any of the committee members that are there to, to answer any questions if that 01:42:36,000 makes sense with people, Jan is willing to do that. Kind of it’s a little intimidating. Thank you, Jen. That’s amazing. We, we put together the presentation. We got the presentation approved. Uh, we submitted to say, these are the people we’d like to have there, so that’s approved. 01:42:56,830 We just need to. Make sure everybody here is comfortable with that. As a as a. If I’m not wrong, I think you also presented additional. Slides for anticipated questions which is Really, I, I just want to commend Eric for overpreparing so that there’s a presentation, but then there’s also. 01:43:20,830 You know, slides or questions that over and over again that maybe asked. Um That she or any member, anyone that’s there could use that slide if, if need be. I’ll do is the last presentation I did publicly, the, the really the kind of the big questions that have continued to come up. 01:43:39,000 We have those right now. We’ll make sure everybody here on the committee has those in hand before that time so that you can take a peek at those, um. Those are really the, the big questions that continue to float around out there, so. 01:43:54,470 And then I’ll, I’ll give everybody the the presentation, the, the actual, uh, we already, we’ve already written the The narrative for it. So all that had to be submitted last week to the, to the two moderators. Moderators have approved them. And now we just want to make sure that people here are comfortable with that approach. 01:44:10,470 Um, and I, I, one more thing I wanted to add is that I did as the moderator, I was cc’d on the discussion about us sending a video instead, but the moderator. did sort of say it’s already he already words it as the superintendent or your designee and so from the moderator’s point of view. 01:44:30,770 It’s, if it’s your designee, it’s your designation that’s. Um So it really is just to make sure that this committee makes this committee feels comfortable with it. Sounds like moderator is comfortable with whoever we send. Um Anybody? All right, do I don’t know whether we need a vote. 01:44:58,130 Um Sounds like since the moderator. Kind of worded it, you have a designee. I don’t know if we have to vote. That’s what I’m saying Eric is saying he wants to make sure that the committee is comfortable with. You know, because typically Eric would be the one that presents, um. 01:45:15,900 So I don’t know if we want to vote, but we could. My gut might be it that you might want it. If we want to vote, my gut might be that we. Make it general that it’s Eric’s designee just on the off chance, because if something happens, you know.
